Making Your Wishes Known: A Living Will

October 31st, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Health, Tips

A living will is a written statement that you do not want life-prolonging medical procedures when your condition is hopeless and there is no chance of regaining a meaningful life. Living wills have been around since 1976, when California passed what is called the Natural Death Act. Although called “wills,” they have nothing to do with property, but rather with one’s self, and are intended to take effect when you are still alive. An outgrowth of concern over the loss of ability to direct medical care at the end of one’s life, a living will is an advance directive and is operative only at the time you are terminally ill and are unconscious, or are otherwise incompetent to discuss and decide with your physician what treatment you wish.

Not only a tool to control the extent and type of medical care you receive at the end of your life, a living will can also help reduce the emotional stresses and strains felt by both your family and your doctor, who must decide whether to withhold, withdraw, or continue medical treatment that cannot cure or reverse your terminal condition.

Choosing Men’s Shoes

October 29th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Tips

Don’t belittle choosing a pair of men’s shoes; it needs some tricks to get the right shoes. When you buying a pair of shoes, make sure you know it for work, sport, or what else for; because each of shoes has its own characteristic, and made for specific purpose. Don’t make it multifunction, you buy a pair of shoes for all activities, for instance. Besides it can break your shoes soon, shoes misusing can cause your feet hurt and tired.

Then, when is the best time to buy new shoes? Of course if you suppose to buy a new one due to your own reasons, but I didn’t mean that, what I talking about is the exact time to buy new shoes. Whenever you buy shoes, buy it after you did an exercise or other activities. Your feet swelled after doing exercises, and it is the best time to buy shoes; when your feet are in the biggest size.

The last, but not the least, is about the brand and price. Do you think wearing branded shoes is another important thing besides for your prestige? I will say YES. A branded shoes company will maintain the brand’s quality by providing the best quality of their products. You pay more for Rockport golf shoes, for instance, but you get lifetime quality satisfaction for that.

AirLines on The Web

October 28th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Traveling

According to Peter Frank, news editor of Conde Nast Traveler, making travel plans online is best for people who like to make their own decisions, research their destination, and investigate ways to get the best deals. Travelers who prefer to leave the legwork to someone else should work with a travel agent.
To make your own plans online, here’s what Frank says you should know:

  • If you are interested in last-minute airline ticket deals for weekend getaways, go to the site of every airline that flies out of your local airport and sign up for their weekly e-mail containing last-minute offers.
  • Try to coordinate your choice of airline with your rental car or hotel. Many sites offer low prices or bonus miles if you use an affiliated service.
  • Don’t overestimate your savings. In a recent study, Conde Nast Traveler found travel agents match or beat Internet fares about half the time, and come close the rest.
  • Beware of extra charges. Some sites will mail your airline tickets to you for free, while others charge a small fee. Consider virtual tickets instead, for which you receive a confirmation number that you take to the airport to get your tickets the day of your flight.
