Incorporate Physical Exercise as a Regular Part of Your Day

You would never think of not eating, so apply that principle to exercise as well. Pick one or more activities that you like—swimming, running, bicycling, working out, dancing, hiking—and, if you are a beginner, start by doing it twenty minutes per day at least three times a week.
If you can’t remember the last time you did any exercise, you’ll be surprised at how quickly you can get yourself into shape. If you’ve been exercising regularly, decide if you need to raise your level or just maintain the pace.
Make sure you warm up and stretch before your workout and cool down and rest afterward. If your climate isn’t hospitable in winter, join a gym if finances permit, or work out at home. Put on your favorite music and dance in your living room, or dress properly, with comfortable shoes, and go out for a walk. Exercise has been proven to regulate intake of food, clear the mind, and balance emotions.
Take every opportunity you can to MOVE. Park your car some distance from your destination and walk a few extra blocks. Go to the corner store in the morning to get the newspaper instead of having it delivered. Walk around your neighborhood and notice the changes taking place as one season follows another. Rather than having a meeting in a stuffy office or over a large midday meal, ask your colleague if he or she would like to meet during a brisk stroll. You’ll find it easier to stay awake, and much more productive.
